Former Olori Wuraola: Family returns bride price to Ooni


Former wife to Ooni of Ife is now free to remarry after her family returns bride price to Ooni.

 

Reports circulating this evening indicate that the family of the ex-wife Zaynab Otiti Obanor has returned her bride price to the traditional ruler of Ife Kingdom,Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi also known as Ooni of Ife.  This move signals the formal divorce for the couple according to customary laws of both Benin and Ife people. The BossNewspapers claims that the Ooni was initially reluctant to collect the bride price, but was persuaded by the Elders to do as a way of concluding the controversial separation.

She’s free now, she’s free…,” the Ooni was quoted to have exclaimed afterwards.

The ex-couple got married in March 2016 in elaborate ceremonies held in Benin and Ife, but the marriage hit the rocks over allegations of infidelity on the part of Wuraola, who issued a public statement to deny the claims. At the time, Obanor had written that she would continue her charity work to assist women in domestic abuse relation and those that need help.
