In an interview with The Guardian Mallam Denja Abdullahi reveals plans for establishing well furnished libraries in the nation’s capital Abuja and the need for the government to do more to Anote Ajeluorou.
Denja mentioned that the National library is under construction in Abuja and hinted that it could be named after a prominent Nigerian writer like Chinua Achebe, and was not happy that library was now viewed as a luxury in the country. The absence of a viable book policy was also lamented on that it would have helped to appropriate funds for furthering books production and distribution.
Then he pointed out that the use of social media was taking youths away from the reading culture and that even things like PCs, iPads and Tablets have now become more or less Android devices as the Nigerian youth only see this handy literary devices as means to indulge without restraint in the pleasures of social media, which is bad and needs to be curbed.
The President of Association of Nigerian Authors is headed to Makurdi in Benue state for the ANA International Convention 2017 that starts October 26 and ends on the 29th of the same month this year.
