JAMB Steps Up Security, Bans Pens And Wristwatches.

It would seem that as the system keeps getting tougher, students keep finding ways to get past its securities and have their way, but for how long can they hope to outsmart the Joint Admission Matriculation Board?

In a bid to ensure that only those who are qualified pass the national examination that is set by the board, JAMB had made the examinations all soft copy to avoid leakage of questions before the day of the exam. However, it was revealed that some students have found ways to beat that measure again, and the board hereby took security a notch higher by banning the use of pens and wristwatches.

At a sensitization exercise by the board for certified CBT centers’ operators, Prof. Is’hag Oloyede had announced the new security measures and reasons:

“What we are doing here today is to appraise the registration and conduct of our past examination and we have taken some lessons from our experience. “To this end, therefore, we have introduced some measures that will further add to the integrity of the registration process as well as the conduct of the examination proper. For instance, we discovered during the conduct of the last examination that some electronic devices such as pens, wristwatches and other devices were used to perpetrate examination malpractice. So, for next year, we have banned the use of wristwaches and pens by candidates and other persons in the examination hall. We are also going to introduce some detection devices to ensure that those who plan to cheat in the examination hall are frustrated, as we will also jam (communication network) of the centres.”

e announced that registration was not yet on but would be opened at the end of this month but encouraged prospective candidates to download brochures from the website and syllabus to read ahead.

He also mentioned that CCTV cameras would be used and closely monitored, with centres without the camera not receiving any money from the authorities.
