Lately, it seems like Empire and Hidden Figures star Taraji P. Henson can do anything she puts her mind to. Now, she wants to grab a machine gun and blast a lot of bad guys. With director, Babak Najafi, at the helm, Henson is starring in Proud Mary, an action-packed homage to the blaxploitation era.
Playing an assassin for the Boston mob, Henson is definitely channelling a super cool Pam Grier vibe, but her character is more than just a pistol-packing mercenary. According to Variety, this hitwoman will have her world “upturned when she meets a young boy who awakens the maternal instinct she never knew she had.”
Co-starring Danny Glover, Margaret Avery, Billy Brown, and Neal McDonough, Proud Mary promises to be a super slick mix of shootouts, sex appeal, and 1970s-style awesomeness!
Proud Mary officially premiers on the 12th Jan 2018. That’s tomorrow people! Well, I guess this is Hollywood’s way of compensating us while Empire is on break, in which by the way Taraji P Henson plays the lead role of Cookie Lyon.
Alright fellas, its time to go get you some Proud Mary (I have a feeling once the movie hits the screens, this will be a thing, like a bloody mary. Don’t shoot the psychic.)
