A Twitter user Ola Brown (Orekunrin)? (@NaijaFlyingDr) has just recounted a horrible experience that happened as a domestic aeroplane belonging to Dana Air landed at an airport.
According to Brown, the aeroplane’s exit down flew off as the plane landed. Now, imagine if that had happened mid-air and what the consequence could have been? Catastrophic, no doubt.
Brown says the door was rattling throughout the journey and that it sounded like there was an explosion when the door fell off.
Brown’s account was collaborated by another Twitter user, DapoSanwo (@DapoSanwo) who claims to have been on the same flight.
According to DapoSanwo, the journey was like travelling with a “‘molue‘ in the early 90s.”, adding that “if that hatch had opened mid-air. We’d have lost cabin pressure, oxygen and surely have gone down. #terrible”
Thankfully, the accident happened after the plane touched the ground. But will the regulatory authority (FAAN) and Dana Air management going to do the needful and launch a full investigation into why this happened or is it going to be business as usual? It is despicable that any business (including those that regulate them) will play checkers with people’s life. It seems that the lessons of Sosoliso Airline have been forgotten and the authorities and some airline such as Dana Air have become complacent. Clearly, that is unacceptable and should be rejected by every well-meaning person. Hopefully, those who could take action will rise to the challenge and see this accident to its logical conclusion. Travellers need to feel safe when they use our airlines (and might we add our roads for that matter).
