#1. The management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), said all its staff involved in the case of the mysterious snake that allegedly swallowed N36 million belonging to the examination body in Makurdi office have been suspended.

JAMB’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Dr Fabian Benjamin, explained that the discovery was made after the new Registrar of the examination body, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede ordered a comprehensive audit of the accounts of all departments, units and state offices across the country.

#2. A former Senator representing Plateau Southern Zone, General John Nanzip Shagaya (Rtd), yesterday died following a fatal motor accident on his way to his hometown, Langtang.

The former senator’s vehicle was involved in a mishap along Langtang Road, in the southern part of Plateau.

#3. The apex Igbo socio-political organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has described as suspicious, the nature and motives of the alliance being sought by the Northern leaders.

The National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prince Uche Achi- Okpaga, noted that the alliance could be just for the purpose of the 2019 general elections.

#4. The Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) has warned South East Governors against providing any land for the proposed Cattle Colony in any state of the South-East.

The group said providing land for colony puts Igbos under the Fulani herdsmen’s siege.

#5. The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has declared the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates as winners of the Saturday’s Local Government polls in all the 44 councils in the state.

KANSIEC Chairman, Prof. Garba Sheka, who announced the election results while briefing newsmen in Kano on Sunday, said APC also won all the 484 councillorship positions with a wide gap in an election participated by 25 political parties.

#6. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the outcome of the Saturday’s House of Representative’s bye-election in Katsina state has “shown that President Muhammadu Buhari and his party have completely lost popularity among Nigerians, even in the President’s home state.”

The party also described the last Saturday’s Kano state Local Council election, which it said was also characterized by outright cheating, open underaged voting and ballot stuffing, as a wholesome mockery of the electoral process.

#7. A group of senior lawyers, under the aegis of Lawyers Alert, has expressed worry over what it described as President Muhammadu Buhari’s non-responsiveness to incessant killings and destruction of properties by marauding herdsmen in Benue, Taraba and other parts of the country.

The group also demanded the immediate resignation of the Inspect General of Police, Ibrahim Idris for allegedly being increasingly partisan.

#8. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Festus Keyamo, has said former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida have no solution to the problems plaguing the nation.

The lawyer, who appeared on Channels Television’s flagship political programme, “Sunday Politics” yesterday noted that both leaders cannot recommend a roadmap for Nigerians.

#9. A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has alleged that there may be a plot to kill Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

Fani-Kayode, however, warned that nothing must happen to Ortom, or else there will be war.

#10. A Russian passenger plane carrying 71 people on Sunday crashed outside Moscow. The Antonov An-148 plane operated by the domestic Saratov Airlines was flying to Orsk, a city in the Urals, and crashed in the Ramensky district on the outskirts of Moscow.
