‘Young widow, your mental health matters’ – Widow Chinonso Arubayi encourages widows to live again

She’s a vlogger and an upcoming media personality but most people knew her as the widow of Eric Arubayi, the gospel artist who lost his life after a brief illness in February last year.

So, we believe Chinonso Arubayi knows a thing or two about grief after losing her husband to death after less than four years of marriage. The marriage bore a son – Jayden Arubayi – born on 3 Jan 2015.

The young window seems to have picked up her life again and recently took to Instagram to encourage others who might be facing some rough time in their life, declaring “God has a divine plan and purpose for us all.” According to Chinonso, having a purpose presupposes being controversial and warns people against abandoning their dreams because of being judged or talked about.

She opines “it’s okay to come out of the shadow, its ok to shake the table,” arguing that would help to discover what needed to be fixed or thrown away.

“Most widows struggle with the comfort of living in the shadows. It’s a safe place to be, less risk involved and even if it means not living our best lives,” she says. However, she points out that such an attitude could be detrimental to their mental health. “It’s okay to live again,” she reminds widows. “Your happiness is valid,” she declares

Chinonso Arubayi via Instagram: “I pledge to challenge the stereotypes and biases aimed at women.”

@chinonsoarubayi: “God has a divine plan and purpose for us all. We were each intentionally and deliberately designed and placed on earth to be a gift.
Our unique personalities and desires are not a mistake, regardless of the challenges thrown at us. Most times those setbacks were designed to prevent us from fulfilling our mission on earth. How many of us have settled for less than God’s purpose for us because of what people think? How many of us become a shadow of ourselves because we care too much about being misunderstood, judged and being talked about?
You can’t live on purpose and not be controversial. Heck, Jesus was controversial and that orchestrated the persecution that led him to the cross and fulfilling a purpose. It’s okay to come out of the shadow, it’s ok to shake the table, how else will you know if the legs are broken and if they need to be fixed or thrown away.
Most widows struggle with the comfort of living in the shadows. It’s a safe place to be, less risk involved and even if it means not living our best lives NOW, society is pleased with us until we become a burden and a liability and people dread our calls…Young widow, your mental health matters, its okay to live again. Your happiness is valid. And when we cry our Father in heaven cries with us, let’s make Him smile again. Let our ways please the Lord. He is honoured when we come out of the shadows and into the light. Don’t let the ashes fool you, you are light.
