Meghan Markle reveals she suffered a miscarriage in July 2020

The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, who is married to UK’s Prince Harry, has revealed that she lost a pregnancy through miscarriage in July 2020.

Meghan Markle wrote a revealing and personal essay to the New York Times where she made some deep revelations. One of them was that she suffered a miscarriage during the pandemic.

Part of her reason for coming forward is that she hoped it would help other women who go through ‘the trauma of miscarriage‘. Meghan Markle even went as far as detailing the moment her miscarriage happened.

She said that it occurred after she had changed her child Archie’s diaper. “I felt a sharp cramp,” Meghan wrote “I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right.”

As she clutched her firstborn child, she was losing her second the American actress revealed in her essay titled “The Losses We Share”. Harry had been heartbroken but tried his best to keep his wife in good health.

Also, the couple had shared the bad news with their family and sources claimed that the royal family had been supportive. However, while Harry is said to have known about her writing the essay, it is not certain if the UK royal house supported the public revelation.

In the essay, Meghan Markle also mentioned the 2020 pandemic as well as George Floyd and Breonna Taylor deaths. You can read other parts of the essay here. One Twitter user had criticised Markle’s revelation as unnecessary but Chrissy Teigen defended her.

Teigen herself had revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in September 2020.
