Ayida is suing Toke Makinwa over claims made in her book, On Becoming, about him infecting her with various sexually transmitted infections while they were married.
In today’s court session, Toke’s lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria was able to get Maje to admit to having unprotected sex with other women while he was still married to Toke. However, he stated that all this happened when he and Toke were having fallouts during different stages of their relationships.
In Toke’s book which became a best seller almost immediately after it was released, the author accused Maje of adultery, infecting her with sexually transmitted diseases among other allegations.
Maje in his court papers stated that Toke’s book brought public ridicule to him and that his reputation has been assaulted and damaged. He also argued that his professional integrity as one of the leading health and wellness practitioners in Nigeria was nearly destroyed.
Part of Maje’s demands was for Toke to “Withdraw from circulation all copies of the book and take immediate steps to call in all copies of the book already distributed.”
