Government of Kaduna State Decries Use Of Pupils For Protest.

Although, teachers who failed to score above 75% in the Primary four competency test were advised to still carry on teaching as due process was to be followed before they were relieved of their jobs. Ignoring the strike threat by the union, the authorities reported that as at today, 17,350 applications have been received by the State’s Universal Basic Education Board, which shows that the number who failed to meet up with the pass mark would be sacked.

The official Twitter handle of the State revealed that they were embarrassed by the action of the union, they tweeted:

The teachers still took to the street for a march protest despite the ‘strike threat’ but it turned into an opportunity to destroy property owned by the State by some of them as the tweet below shows. Even Lawmakers of the constituency who were on hand were said to have been harassed by the protesting teachers.

The Governor, El-Rufai, said that the people who were behind the engineering of using pupils yesterday in a protest that involved them ‘lying on the road’ would be held accountable as security forces were already involved in the investigation of ‘abuse of privilege’ by those in authority.
