Carlo Tarvecchio has resigned from being the President of the Football Association of Italy.
At an emergency meeting arranged today (Monday) by Carlo, he announced that he was resigning from the office before any vote on his future was taken by other members of the board of advisors.
He additionally advised other members of the board to follow in his steps and resign to give way for new elections.
One official who was in attendance, Marcelo Nicchi, who is head of Italian Referees Association commented on the meeting saying that Mr. Tarvecchio had arranged the meeting personally and did not allow anyone else to talk before announcing his resignation.
The former President of the Italian FA, Giancarlo Abete, had earlier told a news house, ANSA, that if the call was made to vote on the future of Carlo Tarvecchio, he would vote for him to consider stepping down. He was also in attendance as he is a part of the board of advisors for the Italian Football and he confirmed that no one else had been given the opportunity to make a comment before the announcement came. He said it was a step in the right direction for the country and admitted:
“If all the advisors are willing to resign, then we will all do, also to favor a strategy of reflection for the future of the Italian Football.”
This news comes nearly more than only a week that the Italian national football team had failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in recent years and the blow is yet still sweeping through the football top executives of the country as one of their papers had described the incident as ‘The End of the World’.
Never take anything 4 granted.
