Cardi B returns to court; pleads not guilty to assault charges

Cardi B on Tuesday, 25 June, pled not guilty to several charges from an alleged attack at a New York strip club in 2018.

Her exact words were, “Not guilty sir, honour,” according to Reuters.

Cardi reportedly opted not to have the charges listed aloud. “Her attorney said that would not be necessary,” TMZ writes.

Reuters reports that Cardi is facing two felony charges for attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury.

She was also charged with various misdemeanours, including reckless endangerment and violations, including harassment.

Cardi is facing 12 charges in all.

A grand jury had last Friday indicted Cardi B based on the charges after she rejected a plea deal back in April.

Two bartenders at the strip club alleged that Cardi B ordered her associates to attack them with bottles and chairs.

Cardi’s lawyers have said they’re not aware of any evidence showing Cardi caused anyone harm.

The rapper doesn’t believe she’ll go to jail, Page Six reports.

On Saturday, Cardi told fans at an LA concert, “F*ck you mean? I ain’t going to jail, I got a daughter!”

Her and Offset’s first child, daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus, was born last July.
