Police rushed to Sophie’s family home in Medburn in Ponteland near Newcastle, where they found her dead.
While it remains unclear how Sophie died, police say there are no signs of any suspicious circumstance surrounding her death. Her family was too upset to speak.
Her heartbroken boyfriend Aaron Armstrong announced the news on his Facebook page on Thursday.
“I will never forget that smile I love you so so much baby your my world forever ever and always,” Armstrong captions a photo of him and Sophie.
The beauty queen suffered from anxiety and depression and documented her struggle on social media. She told her Twitter followers in September: “Hi guys, no not dead just battling a little bit of depression. I’ll come back I promise x.”
Sophie was crowned Miss Great Britain in 2009 and became a reality television star in 2016 when she appeared on the second season of Love Island, where single men and women move to a luxury house on an island with the hopes of finding love.
