Gwen Renée Stefani, known simply as Gwen Stefani, will be receiving the Fashion Icon award at the upcoming E! People’s Choice Awards (PCAs).
E! made the exciting announcement on Tuesday, 8th October 2019.
The Grammy-award winning artist, in addition to her music, is also known for her iconic and eclectic fashion choices and is noted to have made most of the clothes she wore on stage.
Gwen Stefani also has a fashion line, L.A.M.B., which she launched in 2004 after Stylist Andrea Lieberman introduced her to haute couture clothing. Teri Hatcher, Nicole Kidman are some of the celebrities who have been known to wear L.A.M.B.
Gwen Stefani is also an eyeglass designer, a venture she embarked upon after being prescribed glasses, and in 2016, she released affordable eyewear under the label GX, with Tura Inc.
The fashionista says it’s “bizarre” and “surreal” to be so honoured by E! PCAs. In an interview with the network, she recalls back in the days when she used to look “through Vogue magazine and thinking, ‘I’ll never get my hands on those clothes, I’m just gonna go to the thrift store and make my own clothes.’”
“So to get to this point where I’m getting an award for fashion is kind of surreal,” she says.
The singer also notes that the award is a confirmation that being true and following one’s passion can pay off in unexpected ways, actually in her words, “weird thing can happen.”
The 2019 E! People’s Choice Awards will take place on Sunday, 10th November 2019. Naturally, it would be broadcast live by the network at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Red carpet starts two hours prior.
