To protect the innocent, Joey Akan not publishing The Story of Emma Nyra following Ubi Franklin and Iyanya saga

Journalist Joey Akan has back-tracked on his promise to publish the part 4 of his Ubi Franklin vs Iyanya series titled, The Story of Emma Nyra.

Joey had on Wednesday informed followers on social media to expect what was assumed to be a wrap of the series about what happened then including the aftermath of Ubi Franklin allegedly abusing singer Emma Nyra.

The alleged abuse was resurrected after Ubi’s recent social media feud with his former business partner Iyanya. Iyanya insinuated that Ubi was assaulting her, but Ubi, speaking to Joey as part of the series, said him and Emma signed an NDA with a N10m fine for any defaulter, which as akin to pleading the 5th Amendment, in the US terms in a manner of speaking.

Later on, a 2016 interview with Emma Nyra surfaced, where she confirmed he indeed abused her. “I went through a lot,” she had said without giving details because she said she was not ready for it.

Expectedly, there was an interest in what Joey Akan might reveal and fans of the series (and those with a vested interest) were thought to look forward to the release. Only for Joey, to make a U-turn on the publishing his findings today.

After careful and extensive consideration of the safety of all concerned for the main victims of Ubi Franklin, I will no longer be publishing a part 4: The story of Emma Nyra,” Joey writes on Instagram as he intimates that he would no longer continue with the series in order to concentrate on other projects.

Unsurprisingly, there was some outcry, and conspiracy theories were not in short supply among some social media users. These prompted to release a second post to address the fallout, and to claim that his unpublished report was a “solid work detailing diabolical crimes and abuse“.

He denies he had been bribed to kill the story and maintains that neither was his decision not to ran the story made under duress.

I never collected money or succumbed to threat. Ubi no reach…. I killed my story to protect lives, including children…. One day, I hope it comes out when people are less vulnerable,” Joey states.
