Meghan Markle baptised into Anglican Church ahead of marriage to Prince Harry

Meghan Markle has reportedly been baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury using holy water from the River Jordan ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry.

The 45 minutes ceremony was described as an “intimate service” by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Prince  Harry and Markle are wed to wed on 19th May at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The baptism, which took place on Tuesday was reportedly an intimate affair witnessed by family members at the Chapel Royal, the Daily Mail reports. However, the Queen and Prince William were said not to be present at the ceremony.

The baptism was also followed by a confirmation, which means that Meghan will be able to join Prince Harry during communion.

Meghan, a Christian had intimated following her engagement to the Prince that she plans to get baptised into the Anglican Church out of respect for the Queen as the head of the church.  It was claimed that Markle requested Justin Welby, 62, to lead the service having formed close ties with him during her time in the UK.

Meanwhile, the couple has indicated that they have invited over 2600 public members to witness their wedding on the grounds of the Windsor Castle.
