New data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) indicates that five new Coronavirus infections that cause the Covid-19 disease were confirmed in Nigeria on Easter Sunday, 12 April 2020.
The NCDC tweeted the information during their nightly announcement of Coronavirus infectious disease situation in th country.
According to the NCDC, the new infections bring to total 323 conformed Covid-19 cases in the country and were recorded in Katsina (1) Kwara (2) and Lagos states (2).
The health body also indicated that 85 people have recovered from the disease and have been discharged, while 10 fatalities have been recorded.
Further, Covid-19 has been recorded in 19 states of the federation plus the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
“Five new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows: 2 in Lagos 2 in Kwara 1 in Katsina,” the NCDC tweets.
“As at 09:10 pm 12th April, there are 323 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 85 have been discharged with 10 deaths There are 19 states with confirmed cases in Nigeria,” the tweet adds.

The NCDC also provided a breakdown of the confirmed Coronavirus infections in the country.
The data shows that Lagos remains the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria with 176 confirmed cases. FCT is second on the list having 56 cases while Osun State is third with 20 cases.
