Actress Omotola bags a UN ambassadorial role for Sustainable Development Goals

Nollywood actress and philanthropist, Omotola Jalade-Ekeheinde, is the new face of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) for Nigeria.

The UN SDGs is a list of seventeen goals adopted by “all the world’s government at the United Nations in 2015″, according to the 17 Goals website. The goals are intended to ‘guide global development until the year 2030.”

Announcing the ambassadorial role this morning, the Alter Ego actress writes,

Honored to become One of Nigeria’s #UNSDG Ambassadors. There are 17 goals. I advocate No 1. Check them out and find the One you’re most passionate about. #leavenoonebehind#sustainabledevelopmentgoals
#Sdgs

The SDG Goal 1, which the actress mentioned is about ending poverty, “END POVERTY IN ALL ITS FORMS EVERYWHERE,” is the official caption for the goal.

According to the UNSDG 17 Goals website, “about 1 billion people still live in poverty — defined as an income of less than US $1.25 per day. The targets under Goal 1 include aiming for a world where the poor are not vulnerable to climate change and have ‘equal rights to economic resources’.”
