China builds waterfall skyscraper

Guizhou province in China is home to the largest artificial waterfall in the world.

The waterfall cascades off a new skyscraper called Liebian International Plaza, the skyscraper is 121 meters tall and home to a hotel, shopping mall and offices.

The waterfall will only be switched on for special occasions, officials tell local media as it takes two hours of prep time and is powered by four 185-kilowatt water pumps. An hourlong showcase adds RMB 800 ($118) to the building’s electricity bill. A huge water tank on the ground collects and stores water from the skyscraper.
