Coronavirus in Nigeria update: 575 new cases confirmed as Cross River State records first cases

 Nigeria has recorded an additional 575 coronavirus cases according to the latest data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as Cross River  State records its first cases of Coronavirus.

The NCDC made the revelation during its nightly update on coronavirus in Nigeria via its Twitter handle on the 6th of July.

According to the centre, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country now stands at 29,286. The centre also stated that 11,828 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus, known formally as SARS-Cov-2.

Meanwhile, 654 people have died from COVID-19 related complications. This means that the active number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Nigerians as of the night of Monday 6th July was 16,804.

The data also revealed that for the first time since the breakout of the pandemic, Cross River State recorded confirmed infections as five cases were confirmed in the states.
