Coronavirus lockdown: Motorists spend the night on the road in Ikoyi after flouting lockdown orders [video]
In Lagos State, there is a lockdown in place no thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic which has infected over six thousand people in Nigeria so far.

During a public address, President Muhammadu Buhari announced that in order to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, there would be a curfew in several states in Lagos, from 6 AM to 8 PM as opposed to total lockdown.

This was introduced in states where there had previously been a total lockdown. As such, citizens were required to wear facemasks whenever they went out and non-essential workers were required to stay at home.

These directives did not stop several Lagosians though, as many of them were caught outside on Osborne Road, Ikoyi after 8 PM on Tuesday, 19 May.

As a result, they were forced to spend the night on the road by their parked cars. It is unclear what caused the road to be blocked, but according to the eyewitness account by @femiolasebikan who shared the videos on his Instagram page showing rows of cars parked on the road.

“Make una help us beg Governor @jidesanwoolu oooo. We won’t do it again.. [sad]. I want to go home [sad]. We’re all sleeping on the road tonight,” he wrote.
