Nigeria has recorded an additional 193 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
The total number of confirmed cases in the country has now gone up to above 5000, according to data reported by the NCDC through its verified Twitter handle during its nightly Coronavirus in Nigeria updates.
The data shows that the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria as of Thursday, 14 May 2020 was 5,162. Meanwhile, 1,180 patients have recovered and have been discharged from coronavirus isolation centres while 167 patients died.
The spread of the virus has grown rapidly since it was first announced in Nigeria in February 2020, only a few months after the outbreak started in Wuhan, China.

The NCDC also apologised for wrong figures it reported on Wednesday night, 13 May 2020. According to the NCDC, two cases reported for Kaduna on that date were repeat tests. Also, for the cases breakdown by state, visit covid19.ncdc.gov.ng.
