There was a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of up to N1.076m on the assortment of 59 cars found there and about 6,200 bags of rice were also seized.
The Zone A, Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service in Ikeja conducted a raid in Ikoyi and Festac areas after spending much time gathering information on the illegal activities of the car markets and the agents were able to impound 59 cars which if the Duty Paid Value had been cleared will all amount to N1.076m.
Mohammed Uba Garba who is the Customs Area Comptroller stated that there is suspicion that the vehicles had entered into the country through illegal means in a bid to avoid paying the DPV. However, the owners of the impounded vehicles are given one month to come and provide complete papers that proves their ownership tor forget abot them.
The vehicles were not the only thing the operatives found during their raid as they seized 6,206 bags of parboiled rice too.
The impounded vehicles were big cash cars that includes Toyota Prado Jeeps, Lexus Jeeps, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Camry, Coaster Bus and Toyota Hiace Bus.
