The controversy trailing the Special Anti Robbery Squad ( SARS) arm of the police never ends.
And we’re still questioning the apparent absence of discipline and training constantly on display from police officers.
In Ajaokuta town on Sunday, it was another tragic story as a drunken police officer allegedly shot dead a father of one.
The victim identified as Mohammed Ismail, an HND graduate of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja was killed at a rally organised by Abdulrahaman Dansabe, one of the chairmanship aspirants for the Ajaokuta Local Government Area. This incident took place at about 2 pm as the APC aspirant, revealed his plans for the area.
An eyewitness says: “Some people said the policeman acted under the influence of alcohol.
“Our efforts to save the man proved abortive as he died shortly after he was rushed to a nearby hospital.”
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya, said investigation into the incident was on.
