George Floyd buried in Houston in solemn ceremony [photos]

George Floyd has been buried in a solemn ceremony which took place yesterday, 9 June in Houston.

46-year-old George Floyd died in Minneapolis after police officer, Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for more than nine minutes while Floyd protested that he could not breathe.

His death sparked a series of anti-racism protests across the world with many also protesting against police brutality.

A series of memorial services were held for Floyd earlier this week and his funeral service, which took place at Fountain of Praise Church in Houston, Texas was the final service.

Friends and family members, mostly dressed in all white were present at the ceremony and took turns speaking about the kind of man Floyd was before his life was brutally cut short.

Celebrities were also in attendance, including Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, and NeYo who performed at the service. NeYo performed Boys II Men’s ‘It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday’ and struggled through tears for the entire performance.

Presidential candidate, Joe Biden also gave an address at the funeral although he could not physically be there.

After, Floyd’s remains were transported in a horse drawn carriage to the Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland where his mother is also buried.
