Hundreds Of Women Arise In Calabar To Turn Herdsmen Out.

The menace spread by armed herdsmen in other parts of the country has made the fear of them even stepping into any State, even if it is to pass by to continue their Nomadic activities, fall on every citizen but the actions of the women in Cross River showed courage.

It is not revealed how the news of their arrival spread so quickly but like a foul smell, the women in most of the surrounding neighborhoods soon got wind of it and they poured into the streets. They chanted “Fulani, must go” as they marched on, carrying leaves with them.

This development followed the news that there had been a clash between herdsmen in a community in the State and local farmers that ed to casualties in both camps, and in a bid to avoid such occurrence, the women swept into action.

“The herdsmen should be relocated far away from our community. Security should also be beefed up at the boundary areas to secure our lives,” one of the women that waited to answer a journalist said.

There were also calls for the outright ban of open grazing activities all over the State.

A visit from Hon. Regina Anyogo to the area was recorded as she represented the Yala constituency of the State, she assured the women that their voices had reached the right ears and that the State is on the verge of placing a ban on grazing activities in the State. She advised the people in general to maintain calm.
