Recall that we reported that the teachers obtained an injuction from the Kaduna State Industrial Court, which forbade the government from sacking affected teachers pending the determination of the case before the industrial court.
However, The Nations reports that the chairman, Kaduna NUT, Comrade Audu Amba and the assistant secretary-gneral Comrade Ango Adamu, noted they were surprised when the governor said the court was wrong in granting the injunction because the teachers were sacked before the court order.
Their words: “Our attention has also been drawn to the fact that the government, despite the service of the order of interlocutory injunction on it, is now making efforts to frustrate the outcome of the suit, by directing the Education Secretaries in all local government areas to collect backdated letters of disengagement from service for onward distribution to teachers.
“We are appalled by the governor’s pronouncement as aforesaid. Our belief is that the accepted norm in all civilised societies is for the government to appeal the decision of the National Industrial Court, instead of resorting to an unfounded criticism of same.
“We believe that the rule of law is the bedrock of democracy, and any government/institution that refuses to bow to the dictates of the rule of law automatically loses its legitimacy.
“We, therefore, implore and appeal to the government’s conscience, and all its institutions, to subordinate themselves to the judicial powers the court, as enshrined in Section 6 (A) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which is our organic law from which governments at all levels exist and draw their legitimacy.”
Eventually reformation will enter the teaching sector by fire by force
Reformation can only come, when those teachers are sacked and more competent teachers are tested and brought on board. Not everyone has the passion to teach.
no matter how few the teachers remaining are,
let the teachers go,
when one is not fit for a job, they go and chill
Na why education level low for that side..
And that is why we should not allow those teachers to continue teaching, if not our generation is at detriment. I rest my case..
He is correct now.
El Rufai is not frustrating the interlocutory test because truly they were fired before the injuction.
This is a very simple case I swear
Pls what makes it a Simple Case?? Oga ITK
The man won’t step down for someones else i am totally tired
Till next elections bro
As far as I am Concerned El-Rufai is right as far as this news is concerned. Would you rather allow your kids to be taught by incompetent teachers?
Pls allow the Man to do his job…
Court of Law biko allow El-Rufai to do the needful, teaching is not for everyone.
If these incompetent teachers are left to continue, the future of the kids they tutor would be at stake. I would advise him to start with those who employed the unqualified teachers first. It will serve as a deterant to others in the recruitment process
Lets be sincere here, if there are lot of jobs in the country do you think you and I will want to be a teacher? 80% of primary and secondary school teachers we have today aren’t teachers by profession but teachers just to have what to eat. Provide Job for graduates and you’ll get certified teachers in the class room.
You seems to be our lawyer in this case. Kudos to your good work
Thanks but am not a lawyer. Am more of a news analyst
Exactly teacher wey no sabi anything go dey teach
At least I sabi something. You that you don’t know anything…nko
May God help us.
Amen ohhh
We are tired of this man oo.
I will support Competence no matter what and of the teachers lose their jobs as a result of that, then they brought it upon themselves. We cannot allow our kids to be taught by incompetent teachers after paying school fees.
I advise is that there should be a gradual disengagement of those teachers considering the economic implication of sacking 22000 workers in a state.
May GOD almighty see all of us true.
This is personal
Why? Pls state your reasons??
