The wife of the traditional ruler of Obong in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Naomi Jumbo, was released by the abductors who forcefully took her when five masked men attacked the Palace near Ibio Edem Urua. They had been said to wielding intimidating guns and no one could resist them or stop them from taking her.
Negotiations between the family and the kidnappers reached the price of N2.5m for her release and true to their word, on receiving the money, they released her and she has now been reunited with her family.
Her husband, Chief Tuesday Jumbo, picked her up from where they dumped her and quickly took her to a hospital.
Sources reported that she was blindfolded before she was taken out of the hideout and then dropped at Iwuken village which is ten minutes drive from the Palace.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Elkana Bala, however, said that he was not aware of any payment made by the family and has now sent a unit to guard the palace. He also encouraged the residents to help the police get rid of the evil perpetrators by always coming forward with useful information’s.
