Understandably, Facebook user Chinwe Oge Udeariry indicated that she was “feeling sad” as she narrated the incident on the social network. She also wondered whether the State governor, Rochas Okorocha “has a conscience.”
“So my mom collected her pension cheque last week and was really happy that after so many verifications she was paid, only for her to go to the bank and it was a dud cheque,” she wrote.
“Our governor is now giving dud cheques to pensioners, but he has enough money to erect Jacob Zuma statue.
“These are men and women that worked 30 years in service to their state and country.
“And people will say this man has a conscience. #whenevilmenareinpowerthepeoplesuffers,” she concluded.
We have not been able to confirm the veracity of the story.
Meanwhile, most commenters on the post condemned the alleged act by the Imo State government, with some saying that that was not the first time that the government had issued dud cheques to pensioners.
Unbelievable.
