The government of Rauf Aregbesola is providing them with free train services to and from the state capital during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Why, with the on going fuel scarcity and hike in transportation fare, Osun State government’s decision to continue with its tradition of providing free transportation to indigenes during festive periods is surely a welcomed one.
Aregbesola began the tradition in 2011 and has maintained it during Christmas, New Year, Eid-el-Kabir and Eid-el-Fitri celebrations. This, however will be the last Christmas and New Year free train ride he will offer as governor. His his two-term tenure of eight years will end in November 2018.
A statement issued by the state Commissioner for Industry, Commerce and Co-operative, Ismail Adekunle Jayeoba-Alagbada, says the free train ride is in line with the administration of Rauf Aregbesola, the state governor’s yearly practice of facilitating convenient movement of its citizens in and out of the state during festive seasons.
The statement partly reads:
“The train would, by 10am on Saturday the 23rd of December 2016, convey people from Lagos to Osogbo. The return journey to Lagos from Osogbo will be Tuesday the 26th of December by 10am.”
“The train will also resume from Lagos to Osogbo for the New year celebration at 10am. Saturday, December 30th 2017and return to Lagos on Tuesday 2nd of January 2018.”

That is very good. We lagosians need something like this to benefit from
This is how it should be. If Nigerians can cultivate the habit of giving the world will be a better place.
