The police paraded the four suspects who were arrested following a string of informations on the alleged kidnap of a certain 18 year old boy known as Chisom Igbokwe. Chisom was arrested along with Solomon Chinonso, Chijioke Nnadi and Michael Nwaotu who were all involved in the incident that supposedly took place along Akwakuma Road, Owerri, Imo State.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police Mr. Chris Ezike reported that the four suspects had connived to extort Chisom’s grandfather of the sum of N500,000 which was to be demanded as ransom. He also said the suspects were cooperating, while when asked for his reasons for staging the kidnap, Chisom Igbokwe kept saying he does not know what came over him and blamed the devil for poisoning his mind.
He was just out of secondary school and the other suspects were his friends, they fell into the trap the Police set for them as they had earlier discovered the ploy but played along in order to be able to nab all four suspects without causing any injury.
