Two men arrested for gang-raping and blackmailing a lady after robbing her


Police in Enugu State have arrested two alleged suspects for raping and blackmailing female victims in Enugu

 

Monday Okoro, an ex-convict recently released from Enugu Prisons; and Chidiebere Oke, have been arrested on suspicions of robbing, raping and blackmailing female victims in the Coal City

The police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Enugu State, Ebere Amaraizu, stated that the suspects were apprehended by an irate mob, who subjected them to thorough beating to the point of killing them before they were rescued and taken into custody by the police. The suspects were said to have swindled one of their female victims of money and also gang-raped her. They also allegedly demanded that the victim should ‘pay’ them any time they wanted it.

Narrating her story, the victim said that her ordeal began on October 26 when she ran into the victim on Emeka Abalu in Phase Six Trans Ekulu, Enugu. She was on way to Enugu Town and wanted to board a tricycle to take her to the city. However, the the tricycle which were carrying the boys were only a decoy to cover their criminal activities as The lady said that told her that they were foreigners and were looking for a certain address.

 

The suspects

The police quoted the victim to have aid: “Before I knew what was happening, I lost my consciousness and was taken to where I was gang-raped by three of them after collecting all the money in my possession.”

The victim also told how they later left her at that place but continued calling her the following day with a threat that if the remaining part of the money was not paid, she would face some dire consequences. They also allegedly told her that she had taken an oath not to reveal the transaction to anybody to avoid sudden death.

Smart lady that she is, she reported the incident to the Trans Ekulu Police Division.
