Thanks to the Coronavirus outbreak, all cinemas have closed and cinemas are scrambling to shift their movie release dates.

China, which is the country where the virus first appeared, made the decision to close down all their cinemas in January. Since then, production companies have been shut down, with people being quarantined in their houses.

While smaller movies and television series which were scheduled for digital release are being rolled out anyway, some others have been postponed.

The highly anticipated movie, The Eternals, from Marvel Studios, has been postponed along with the ninth instalment of the Fast and Furious saga.

1. A Quiet Place Part II

The second part of the hit movie, A Quiet Place, starring John Krasinki and Emily Blunt. The second part of the film follows the Abbott family who must venture into the outside world to face monsters and fight for their survival in silence.

The movie was shifted from an 8 March 2020 release to a 4 September 2020 release. Watch the trailer below:

2. Black Widow

Marvel’s highly anticipated Black Widow was scheduled for an 11 May 2020 release date but had to be rescheduled thanks to the Coronavirus.

The film follows Natasha Romanov (Black Widow) who is given at birth to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.

The movie will now be released on 26 November 2020. Watch the trailer below:

3. The Eternals

Marvel’s The Eternals is a highly anticipated movie that was set for release on 4 November 2020. It is about the Eternals, a fictional race of humanoids appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are described as an offshoot of the evolutionary process that created sentient life on Earth.

The film stars Kumail Nanjiani, Kit Harrington, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, among others. It is now set for release on 12 February 2021.

4. Fast 9

The gang return in the ninth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise with Fast 9, as it is being fondly called.

It stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rogriguez, Cardi B, and others. In this movie, Dominic Toretto and his gang must battle the most skilled assassin and gifted driver they’ve ever faced – his brother.

This movie has been postponed from 22 May 2020 to 2 April 2021. Watch the trailer below:

5. Free Guy

When the trailer for this movie, starring Ryan Reynolds first appeared on social media, it went into a meltdown.

Ryan Reynolds plays a man named Guy in this movie, who is a bank teller but discovers that he is a character in a video game that is about to go offline.

Free Guy was moved from 3 July 2020 to 11 December 2020. Watch the trailer below:

6. Ghostbusters: Afterlife

A single mother and her two children move to a new town, where they soon discover that they have a connection to the original Ghostbusters and their grandfather’s secret legacy.

This movie stars Finn Wolfhard, Bill Murray, Paul Rudd, among others. It was moved from 10 July 2020 to 5 March 2021.

7. Minions: Rise of Gru

Do you think you’ve seen everything you need to know about Despicable Me’s Gru? Well, clearly not, because Minions: The Rise of Gru, an upcoming American 3D computer-animated comedy film produced by Illumination is set to let you into the life of Gru as a child.

This will be a sequel to Minions and spin-off/prequel to the main Despicable Me film series. Its release date has been moved from 3 July 2020 to 2 July 2021.

8. Mulan

Mulan is the next Disney animated movie to be made into a live-action movie, but thanks to the Coronavirus, it has been postponed from its original date of 27 March 2020.

The film follows Mulan who joins the Imperial Army to save her sick father. Fearless Mulan disguises herself as a man to battle northern invaders in China in this epic tale.

9. The New Mutants

This new instalment of the X-Men franchise was set for a 3 April release but has now been moved to an undisclosed date.

The New Mutants follows Magik, Wolfsbane and other teenage mutants as they try to come to grips with their superpowers while staying at a secret facility.

10. No Time to Die

The latest Bond movie has been postponed many times, but it looks like it has not seen the last of postponements.

Starring Lea Seydoux, Rami Malek, Rashana Lynch, and Daniel Craig, it follows James Bond who is recruited to rescue a kidnapped scientist. He finds himself hot on the trail of a mysterious villain, who’s armed with dangerous new technology.

No Time to Die has been moved from 10 April 2020 to 25 November 2020. Watch the trailer below:

11. Top Gun: Maverick

In Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise stars as Pete Mitchell, who, after more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

It stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, among others. This movie was originally set to be released on 24 June 2020, but has now been moved to 23 December 2020.

12. Wonder Woman 1984

One of the most anticipated movies on this list is Wonder WOman 1984. In this new instalment, Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, is set to face off against the villainess, Cheetah who possesses superhuman strength and agility.

This movie stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, among others. The movie has been moved from 5 June 2020 to 14 August 2020.
