Arsenal’s Bernd Leno injured during Brighton game

Arsenal’s shot-stopper, Bernd Leno, was another injury casualty for the Gunners as Brighton secured a double over Arsenal this season in the Premier League.

The German was fouled by Brighton’s forward Neal Maupay during an aerial challenge, with the Arsenal ‘keeper stretchered off after 36 minutes with what looked to be a bad knee injury.

Bernd Leno now faces a potential season culmination due to the injury and might not play a part again till next season.

Leno pointed his finger at Maupay and aimed some choice words at the Brighton forward as he was being stretchered off the pitch and there seem to be bad blood between Arsenal players and Neal Maupay ever since.

Arsenal’s injury problems continue

Arsenal Football Club has confirmed injuries to both Granit Xhaka who sprained an ankle in the defeat to Machester City and Pablo Mari who suffered a “significant” ankle injury that could rule him out for the season.

And now, the number one choice goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, injured his knee after Neal Maupay fouled him during the game at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Leno was replaced by second-choice keeper, Emiliano Martinez, who was making his first Premier League appearance since April 2017.

His injury came after Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka were injured during Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Calum Chambers, Cedric Soares, and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are also still missing in action due to injury but Arsenal are hoping Xhaka, Soares, and Torreira will “return to training in the next two weeks“.

Neal Maupay apologizes for injury to Leno

Brighton match-winner Neal Maupay has apologized for his part in Bernd Leno’s injury but says Arsenal players need to “learn humility“.

The Frenchman who was involved in the foul that resulted to the injury to Bernd Leno scored his team’s winner deep into stoppage time.

Maupay after the match explained he didn’t intend to hurt Leno but was critical of Arsenal players for “talking a lot” when they were leading through Nicolas Pepe’s opener.

Maupay said he went to meet with Mikel Arteta at half time to apologise because he never meant to injure the Arsenal goalkeeper.

He said, “I just jumped to get the ball maybe and when he landed he just twisted his knee, so I apologised to their team and to him as well.”

Maupay also wished Leno a quick recovery but didn’t end without taking a swipe at the Arsenal players saying they lacked humility.

He said, “Arsenal players maybe need to learn humility sometimes. They were talking a lot. They got what they deserved.”
