Chelsea Continue Classy Cruise

Ever since their shock opening match defeat against Burnley, Chelsea have come to grips with their powers and trashed Leicester with a penalty from Vardy that did nothing to dampen their shine, as they welcome back their Belgian ace, Eden Hazard.

Visiting the King Power Stadium, Chelsea who are current champions of the domestic league faced a much changed Leicester side that won the same trophy two seasons ago.

Antonio Conte’s charges started brighter than their opponents and Alvaro Morata should have done better with a fantastic looped pass from fellow Spaniard Cesc Fabregas, but the former Real Madrid player could only brush the ball awkwardly with his foot and allowed Schmeichel to collect the ball comfortably.

Leicester who were more conserved in their last game against Manchester United, played boldly this time and they piled pressure on Chelsea’s three back players and they very nearly found the opener they were looking for with Mharez taking on a counter attack that left him with a choice of giving the ball to Vardy or Slimani and he chose the latter who squandered the chance and led to Chelsea returning the favor with Aziplicueta finding Alvaro Morata in the box and the striker made no mistake in front of goal.

With the introduction of Gray and the continued impressive presence of Nigeria’s Ndidi in the midfield, Leicester kept keeping pace with Chelsea until Kante doubled the score as he shocked everyone with a shot from distance that though the home goal keeper could see from distance, he couldn’t keep out.

Jamie Vardy grabbed a consolation goal via a penalty he had won when he latched on to a slow back pass to Courtois in the box.

Willian and Hazard were introduced into the match later and though Willian came close to adding his name to the score sheet, his shot lacked enough curve and went out of play. Also, Zappacosta was given his debut by Conte who also gave him his debut when he coached him at Juventus.
