Football transfer updates 2

Chelsea have broken their club record Friday after completing a deal for Real Madrid‘s Alvaro Morata in a £70m deal. The Spaniard signed a five-year contract with the Blues. He becomes Chelsea’s most expensive signing, with the transfer fee surpassing the £49.73m they paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres in 2011.

A side note: Chelsea Manager, Antonio Conte has revealed that Diego Costa was told in January that he would be sold by Chelsea this summer, contradicting the forward’s claims that he was only told he had no future at the club after helping them to win the Premier League title. someone has got a long nose.

All the transfer sagas surrounding Barcelona’s Neymar seems to be coming to an end as the player is set to stay at Barcelona. The Brazilian has been continually linked with a move to Paris St Germain (PSG) but news website Sport claims that he has told team-mates, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, that he will remain at the Nou Camp. Interestingly, Gerard Pique seems to have confirmed that report when he tweeted a picture of himself with the Brazilian on Sunday night, along with the simple message “Se queda”, which translates as “he stays”.

Who else is staying put? Tottenham striker Harry Kane. The striker has reaffirmed his commitment to the club after vowing not to leave amid speculation of a big-move away from the north Londoners, and expressed his excitement for the years to come. Meanwhile, Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino insists he is “calm and quiet” about the lack of business Tottenham have done so far in the transfer window because of the belief he has in Spurs’ young squad.

Similarly, Arsene Wenger has insisted that Alexis Sanchez has not asked to leave Arsenal this summer and reiterated his belief that the Chilean will stay at the Emirates for at least one more year.

Manchester United appear to finally be closing in on Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic. The Mirror report Roman Abramovich has personally OK’d a £50m switch to Old Trafford. Their Manager, Jose Mourinho has also admitted that  United were prepared to sell David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer after seeing he wanted to leave… only for Real Madrid to pull the plug on the deal.

Manchester City, Sunday confirmed the signing of Danilo from Real Madrid, which takes their summer spending so far on full backs to £76.5m. The right-back joined for a reported £26.5m and signed a five-year deal to compete with Kyle Walker, who joined from Tottenham last week for £50m.

Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita seems to be all talk but little action. It is rumoured Liverpool are planning a third bid of £75m, with £40m to be paid up front, in what is likely to be a final offer. Some think, however, that Liverpool will not continue their pursuit of the midfielder this summer.

Bayern Munich are ready to sell teenage midfielder Renato Sanches this summer according to chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge – but only if they receive at least £43m for him.
