Nigerian actor, Olurotimi Akinosho professionally known as Rotimi has revealed that he will be joining the cast of Coming to America 2.
The Power star, known for playing Dre on the Starz hit series, will be joining the original cast of Coming to America as well as new additions such as Michael Blackson, Wesley Snipes, Jermaine Fowler, Teyana Taylor, KiKi Layne, Leslie Jones and more.
Original cast members including star Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Paul Bates, John Amos, Shari Headle, Louie Anderson, and Vanessa Bell Calloway.
In Coming to American Eddie Murphy plays the role of Prince Akeem, a spoiled prince from the fictional African nation of Zamunda, who arrives in Queens and in an undercover fashion gets a job at a McDonald’s knockoff while trying to find a wife.
The sequel will see the Prince, now set to become king, discovering he has a son he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honouring his father’s dying wish to groom his son as a newly crowned prince, Akeem must once again return to America.
Craig Brewer is directing the film, which is currently in production.
Rotimi’s film credits include Divergent, Deuces, Black Nativity and Imperial Drea.
Speaking on The Angie Martinez Show, Rotimi revealed he is excited about joining the classic film although his role has not yet been revealed.
He also talks about being an executive producer for a new movie which he’ll also star in, titled Singleholic.
Singleholic is a film about a woman who must become comfortable in her own skin after a bad breakup and series of unsuccessful dates, according to Essence.
