Samuel Abiola Robinson apologises to movie producers of Sudani From Nigeria

Putting to an end the controversy over underpayment and racism allegedly meted out to Nigerian actor Samuel Abiola Robinson by the makers of the blockbuster film Sudani From Nigeria, the actor posted a lengthy note on Facebook saying that the issue has been resolved.

Confirming the receipt of a reasonable sum as salary for his work in the film Sudani From Nigeria, the Nollywood actor said that he was contacted by the producers of the film and their explanation made him believe that there was no racial discrimination as he had claimed earlier.

The actor said it was a case of misunderstanding, miscommunication and misinformation, and he offered apologies to all who felt offended by his previous statements.

He specifically thanked Kerala finance minister, Thomas Isaac, for his support in resolving the issue and says it’s normal for people to sometime disagree.

Before the controversy, we were like family and in all families, there will be disagreements and miscommunication. This is normal and when resolved, it only strengthens the bond between family members,” he writes.

The actor also said he will be donating a part of the pay he had received to an anti-racism educational charity.

Samuel Abiola Robinson’s Facebook post:

“Hello Everyone, I have been contacted by the producers of Sudani From Nigeria to settle the issue of unfair wages I put up a few days ago. To settle this, I have received a confirmation receipt of payment for a reasonable sum as salary for my work on Sudani from Nigeria.“I previously ascribed racial discrimination to the treatment I had received but deeper enlightenment and explanation by The Happy Hours Entertainment make me believe that this was not a case of racial discrimination but a case of misunderstanding, miscommunication and misinformation.
“I would like to apologise to any person from Kerala who was offended by my previous statements. As this particular case is now confirmed to not be racial discrimination, I want to state that there is almost completely no Racism in Kerala and I believe Kerala is one of the friendliest places in Asia for an African to visit.“I want to especially thank Dr TM Thomas Isaac Sir – the finance minister of Kerala for his support to resolve this issue.

“I would like to thank Television Media, News Papers, social & political workers and Facebook friends from all over the world for showering their unconditional support and love, without which I wouldn’t have been able to manage this tough situation. This has reinforced my belief in unconditional love and humanity.

“I would like to plead with everyone to not direct any hatred or contempt towards Shyju Khalid, Zakariya, Sameer Thahir or anyone involved with the Happy Hours Entertainment. The impressive way they have handled to resolve this situation tells that they are good people. Before the controversy, we were like family and in all families, there will be disagreements and miscommunication. This is normal and when resolved, it only strengthens the bond between family members.

“To address the jabs and mockery posted against me and supported by some well-known actors and directors in Malayalam film Industry; people like these are the ones who made me ascribe racial discrimination to the treatment I had received in the first place.

“It is sad to know that some people are not raised with the proper training of kindness and humanity. But, we cannot dwell on such people as 99.9% of people in Kerala radiate unconditional kindness, love and humanity. Because of this, I believe that the odd 0.1 percent will soon be permanently eradicated.

“I will be donating a part of the money I have received to The Red Card Anti-Racism education charity. I ask you to join me in doing so by visiting www.theredcard.org

“I will always love the millions of people of Kerala who showed me unwavering support, and I will always Love Zakariya, Shyju Khalid, Sameer Thahir and the rest of the Happy Hours Entertainment. All has been resolved peacefully.

“Thank you,
“Love,
“Samuel Abiola Robinson.”
