Although Benton started as an extra, she soon caught the eye of Hugh Hefner, who was the show’s host and was subsequently elevated to co-host. After filming a few episodes together, Hefner propositioned Benton.

Upon hearing his offer, Benton replied, “I don’t know, I’ve never dated anyone over 24 before.” And Hefner replied, “That’s all right, neither have I.” The two started dating soon after.
