French Stewart was born Milton French-Stewart IV on 20 February 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to homemaker, Helene Haushalter who went on to marry Stewart’s stepfather, a microfilm technician Russ Haushalter.
Stewart has always been interested in acting, and at the age of five, he got his first opportunity to appear on the screen—in a local kids show called “Captain Billy’s Clubhouse”.
French Stewart attended Del Norte High School in Albuquerque before temporarily going to West Texas State University for two semesters. French Stewart appeared on TV for the first time at the age of 5. After establishing his love for acting, he went on to study for it. After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Stewart joined the regional theatre and toured with them for seven years before breaking into television in 1992 with the role of Razor Dee, a DJ on the final season of “The New WKRP in Cincinnati”.

Personal life
French Stewart’s first marriage was in 1998, and it lasted for 11 years. He first met actress, former ballet dancer and choreographer, Katherine LaNasa when she made an appearance in one episode of “3rd Rock from the Sun” in 1996.
The couple soon started dating and eventually got married on 19 May 1998. Their love story did not last very long as they split in 2009, and they did not have any children together.
While they were married, they lived in a home in Hancock Park before eventually purchasing a 3,000 square-foot four-bedroom Hollywood Hills house in late 2000. They also operated several zoos in Albuquerque together before their divorce.
