According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 182 new coronavirus infections were recorded in Nigeria on Thursday, 28 May 2020.
The NCDC reported this during its nightly coronavirus in Nigeria in Nigeria update.
According to the NCDC, the total number of coronavirus infections in Nigeria now stands at 8,915. Of this number, 259 have died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, known formally as SARS-Cov-2 while 2,592 people have recovered and been discharged from isolation centres across the country. Hence, the active cases in the country now stand at 6,064.
Reporting the latest data on coronavirus, the NCDC tweets that 111 new cases were recorded for Lagos, Abuja recorded 16 cases while Akwa Ibom recorded 10 cases.
Other states with new infections Oyo (8), Kaduna (6), Delta (6), Rivers (5), Ogun (4), Ebonyi (4), Kano (3), Plateau (2), Gombe (2), Kebbi (1), Kwara (2), Bauchi (1) and Borno (1).

In a follow-up tweet, the NCDC also provided data on the distribution of the disease across the states.
Lagos State remains the epicentre of the disease with 4,123 cases, while Kano State is second with 939 cases. Meanwhile, Cross River State remains the only states without any coronavirus confirmed case.
