Ace defender and Champions League winner Sergio Ramos has ignited reports of his imminent departure from Real Madrid to French giant Paris Saint-Germain after he refused to put pen to paper to a new Real Madrid deal.
Following this development, reports coming from sources within Real Madrid suggest that the Spanish giants may not be able to keep their ace defender, Sergio Ramos for long. The skipper has been with Real Madrid since 2005 after he left Sevilla.
His refusal to pen a new deal with his longtime bosses has sparked several interests from the biggest clubs across Europe. Manchester City is believed to be a longtime admirer of the prolific centre-back but Paris Saint-Germain could also try to obtain his signature.
Josep Pedrerol, a presenter of Spanish football show El Chiringuito de Jugones, claims that Ramos recently rejected Madrid’s proposal. The rejected new deal would’ve kept the player with the Los Blancos until 2023.
According to Pedrerol, Sergio Ramos had told Florentino Perez to his face that he won’t sign the new deal. Instead, he would be listening to offers from outside Spain.
The presenter quotes the Madrid captain as saying; “Someone from PSG has told me that they are going to create a great team with me and Messi.”
Lionel Messi himself is free to start talking to new clubs in January 2021 as his Barcelona contract winds down. It is quite unlikely that Messi would agree to new deal with Barcelona, setting the stage for a new found friendship for old rivals in Paris.
Messi and Barcelona had a controversial face off in the summer of 2020 over his transfer that was only resolved in September 2020 just as a new season began.
Sergio Ramos’ decision might’ve come as a shock but Real Madrid are already trying to sign Bayern Munich veteran David Alaba in preparation for life after the Spanish defender.
Talks with Alaba are at an advanced stage as the Austrian has rejected Bayern’s offer of a deal renewal.
