Jennifer Lopez has revealed that even till her late 30s she didn’t understand what self-love was about until she started therapy. Praising the wonders of loving oneself, the singer said; “They should have a whole school for that.”
This revelation came during the premiere episode of Coach Conversations, a new YouTube series covering creativity and culture by luxury fashion house Coach. JLo had been speaking to host, Jay Shetty, a former monk and now podcast anchor.
Jennifer Lopez revealed that like many other people, she believed she loved herself when the conversation of self-love came up during her therapy sessions. “But obviously, I was doing all these things like my personal relationships didn’t seem like I was loving myself,” she said.

She adds that it had taken her time to ‘understand the concept of self-love’. “It’s still a journey for me,” JLo adds.
The singer performed “This Land Is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful” at the inauguration ceremony of US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
She is currently engaged to former MLB star Alex Rodriguez after being married three times in the past and mentioned to Shetty how far she has come to understanding life better thanks to therapy.
“What you say and what you think, and I tell this to my kids all the time, becomes your reality. If you’re telling yourself, ‘I’m gonna be this or I’m gonna be that,’ or you’re telling yourself, ‘I’m a f—— loser,’ then you’ll be a f—— loser. Whatever it is, you tell yourself that and it will manifest,” she said.
Jennifer Lopez emphasised that ‘self-talk’ is a way to ‘create’ a positive life for oneself.
