The lockdown doesn’t look like its any close to coming to an end, and while we have been talking about the many coping habits for people in relationships, and the ways for single people to find love during this period, it is important to discuss self-love.
In relationships, self-love can be said to be more important than the relationship itself. Here is why: any relationship you have with someone else cannot be truly complete or stable if you don’t have a good relationship with your own self.

If you have not managed to fall in love with yourself and find yourself first, then what part of you are you giving to your partner? Eventually, your so-called relationship will crumble under the weight of your confusion. In rare situations, your partner will be there while you figure things out, but imagine how much more fulfilling it will be for you to enter a relationship with your full self.
There is no better time to work on cultivating your self-love than now, when you have all the time and all the room to work on yourself and to fail as many times as you need to.

5. Embrace your imperfections
Everybody in the world has imperfections. No matter how perfect they may appear, there is always one or two things that people don’t like about themselves that they cannot change.

Now, imagine yourself agonizing over something similar – maybe its hair on your face or a certain way that your body is formed, or something like that. Who cares about any of those things in the face of a pandemic.
Remind yourself every day that nobody is perfect, embrace your imperfections, and continue being the amazing person that you are.
4. Stay away from social media
Many people have reported about how incredibly toxic social media is. Yes, there are so many upsides to using the application, but at the same time, it can prove to be too much, like hearing a million voices in your head at the same time.
For many people, their mental health cannot take that. If you’re having mental health issues and feeling down about avoidable things, it is kind of hard to convince yourself of your own awesomeness.
If you cannot stay away completely, then limit your time on social media so you don’t get overwhelmed and spend the rest of your time being productive. You won’t regret it.
3. Keep in touch with the people that make you feel good
What better way to spend your time than talking to the people that matter most to you? It can be friends or family or just an acquaintance that you like talking to. Just do it.
Having conversations with people you like will make you feel good and uplift your spirit especially now that everyone has some sort of anxiety from staying in all day.
2. Treat yourself, even at home
Lizzo just shared a post on her Instagram page saying that she was almost consumed by self-hatred while in quarantine and you have no idea how it is for that to creep up on you.
To prevent that, treat yourself once in a while. Work out if it feels good to do it, cook yourself your favourite meals, and watch some movies. You are the master of your own time right now and you get to decide what you do with it.

Do not, for any reason, compare yourself with someone else. The fact is that the world is an unfair place and some people have things better than others while some people have it worse. We just have to learn how to live with it.

It has even become worse with the advent of social media as it gives us a mirror into other people’s lives that we normally would not have. However, it is important to remember that you are not seeing the true expanse of the other person’s experience, as it takes a lot more courage to show both the bad and the good.
Remember the tips above and use them to start your journey to a lot more self-love in quarantine. By the time we get out, you will be super confident and ready to take on the world, and especially ready to give more of yourself to whatever relationship you want to expend your energy on.
