Dr Cupid: 5 ways to enjoy your Christmas with bae even in recession

Christmas is here! This week on Doctor Cupid features ways you can enjoy your Christmas with your bae.

Truthfully, right now, many partners are racking their brains on how to have a good time with their loved ones, even when Nigeria has slipped into a recession.

Everything seems so expensive, but the love birds must be chirpy this Christmas.

So, I bring you good news from Santa! Here are ways you can enjoy your Christmas with bae even during a recession without spending so much.

1. Netflix or Prime and chill

Yeah, you can have an in house cinema with bae. Set up your Netflix account and see lovely movies. Alternatively, you can sign up for Amazon Prime for free access to unlimited movies and music. Whle you’re on Prime, you can also watch Dinner, one of Nollywood’s highest-grossing film of 2016.

2. Have a picnic

Whether you decide to go for a traditional, outdoor picnic or put down a blanket inside (or on your balcony or roof, if you have access), a picnic is a great way to shake things up without spending so much.

This could save you a lot of money.

3. Go window shopping

Without having to spend a kobo, walk around and check out the pretty window designs of local stores.

The activity will be fun as it will be a walk and conversation while you ogle the storefronts.

4. Make an at-home spa

You can recreate your own spa experience by drawing a bubble bath, lighting a few candles, and throwing in a soothing massage.

5. Have a game night at home

A friendly date night at home with board games (or a group date—the more the merrier!) are perfect if you’re feeling lazy.

Order in pizza and ice cream, then let the games begin.

These are really simple creative ways to help you enjoy your Christmas with bae. So, yeah, you can have a good time while spending almost nothing.
