‘Archduchess’ Helen Idisi arrested in Spain for allegedly fraudulently posing as UN Women’s head

A Nigerian national, the self-identified ‘Archduchess’ Helen Idisi has been arrested in Spain for allegedly fraudulently posing as the Spanish UN Women’s head.

Helen Idi’s extensive resume includes positions as the head of the Spanish branch of UN Women, politician, detective, author, legal expert, and finance consultant.

Idisi was arrested after an investigation sparked by a complaint from the New York-based UN women. She reportedly posed as the president of the Spanish branch of the UN women, giving interviews to the media and soliciting for funds.

In a statement released by the Spanish police, she was arrested partly for soliciting for “funds to carry out different projects related to the institution she claimed to represent.” 

Apart from these allegations, she reportedly claimed to have participated in three Spanish elections and to have founded a political party named Union de Todos (Union for All).

She also reportedly claimed to be the advisor on diaspora and auxiliary affairs of Delta State, Nigeria.
