Coronavirus in Nigeria update : Total infections hit 20,919

Nigeria has recorded an additional 675 coronavirus cases according to the latest data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC made the revelation during its nightly update on coronavirus in Nigeria via its Twitter handle on the 22nd of June.

According to the centre, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country now stands at 20,919. The centre also stated that 7,109 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from isolations centres across the country. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus, known formally as SARS-Cov-2.

Meanwhile, 525 people have died from COVID-19 related complications. This means that the active number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Nigerians as of the night of Monday 22nd June 2020 was 13,285

Taking to it’s Instagram page, NCDC tweets: “675 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria;

“Lagos-288, Oyo-76, Rivers-56, Delta-31, Ebonyi-30, Gombe-28, Ondo-20, Kaduna-20, Kwara-20, Ogun-17, FCT-16, Edo-13, Abia-10, Nasarawa-9, Imo-9, Bayelsa-8, Borno-8, Katsina-8, Sokoto-3, Bauchi-3, Plateau-2

In a followup tweet, the NCDC shared data on the distribution of the disease across the states. Lagos State remains the epicentre of the disease with 8,864 cases. The Federal  Capital  Territory (FCT), Abuja is second with 1,583 cases, while Kano State is third with 1,190 cases. Cross River is the only state that has not recovered any confirmed case.
