In the latest coronavirus in Nigeria update, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that 288 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Nigeria on Friday, 15th May 2020.
This brings to total, 5,445 coronavirus cases in Nigeria.
171 people have also died of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus while 1,320 people have recovered and been sent home from isolation centres across the states. The number of active cases was 3,954.
Announcing the latest data during its coronavirus update, the NCDC gave a breakdown of the new cases across the states. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with 179 while Kaduna came a distant second with 20 cases. Others are Katsina (15), Jigawa (15), Borno (13) and Ogun (11).
Eight cases were recorded for Kano, seven cases for FCT Abuja, while Niger and Ekiti recorded four cases each.
Oyo, Delta and Bauchi each recorded three cases while Kwara and Edo recorded two and one cases respectively.

In a follow-up tweet, the NCDC, again, apologised for errors in a previous reporting. According to the Centre, “on the 14th of May, 4 cases reported from Plateau & 1 case from Akwa Ibom, were repeat cases. Therefore, Plateau has a total of 21 cases and Akwa Ibom has a total of 16 cases.”
