Facebook is losing users from the US, report says

Edison Research has claimed that giant tech company Facebook is losing its users massively in millions.

Though on the bright side, the users are leaving Facebook to another platform owned by the same company, which is Instagram

According to Edison Research’s new study, which analyses digital media consumer conduct in America, Facebook currently has around 15 million users less in the U.S. than it had in 2017.

This probably won’t be noticeable in the tech company’s quarterly profit reports, which continues to be impressive during the same period.

In January, they announced it had 2.32 billion month-to-month active users, a 9% expansion year-over-year. Be that as it may, those are worldwide numbers, and Edison Research’s examination takes a look at clients in the U.S., as clarified by Edison president, Larry Rosin, in a meeting with Marketplace. Rosin likewise says that their meaning of “usage” might be not the same as Facebook’s.

We’re asking about usage. We’re saying, ‘Do you currently use Facebook?’ Facebook is presumably estimating it on, ‘Do you ever open the app, or do you ever use it on any level?’” he tells Marketplace.

The study, based on a phone review of 1,500 individuals of age 12 years and older, found that around 61 per cent of U.S. clients aged 12 and older are using Facebook, down from 62 per cent in 2018 and the 67 per cent peak in 2017.

It’s significant that the study every frequently contrasts 2017 numbers and the present numbers to stress the enormous drop, which really happened a year ago.
