The new series, which is called ‘Old-ish’ will see Lewis and Fishburne reprise their roles as Earl ‘Pops’ Johnson and Ruby Johnson, who are the parents of Dre Johnson in ‘Black-ish’.
Old-ish will follow the lives of the incredibly turbulent older couple as they attempt to give love a second chance. When they move into a new neighbourhood, they will come in contact with old and new members of the community as they try to make their marriage work once again.
In the past couple of years, the success of ‘Black-ish’ has led to the show getting two spin-offs, ‘Mixed-ish’ and ‘Grown-ish’.
‘Mixed-ish’ tells the story of a younger Rainbow Johnson and shows how she and her family navigated life as a mixed-race family. Of course, Rainbow eventually married Dre Johnson and became a mother to Zoey, Junior, Diane, Jack, and DeVonte in ‘Black-ish’.
In ‘Grown-ish’, viewers see the in and outs of college through the eyes of the Johnson’s oldest child, Zoey Johnson.
‘Old-ish’ will see Lawrence Fishburne act as executive producer of the show while Jennifer Lewis will act as series producer. These roles will give them both a level of ownership of the show.
